Wait. What? No, the #TakeAKnee protest started by Colin Kaepernick isn’t about a random list of any number of ills happening in society. The protest started by Kaepernick isn’t about sex trafficking, the gender pay gap, or domestic violence. Those are extremely important issues, but don’t piggyback off of or distract people from this issue. This specific protest will not be co-opted and used to distract people from the real issue of systemic maltreatment and murder of black people by the state.
